Meet Our Holistic Health Providers

Bry Kring, CNM, FNP, MSN

Family Nurse Practitioner & Certified Nurse-Midwife

A Boulder, CO native, Bry (she/her) trained as a midwife in the United States and Latin America, from interning at a birthing center on the border of Juarez to learning from Mayan Midwives in the highlands of Guatemala, to high-risk hospital settings. In addition to providing midwifery care, a large role Bry plays at BBHH is as a holistic Family Nurse Practitioner. She is passionate about providing integrative and functional-inspired primary care and also particularly loves to support the perimenopausal journey. Bry is also a Craniosacral practitioner, and has trained in homeopathy. Bry works creatively to find what best meets the needs and desires of each client in a safe, individualized, and holistic way, always aimed at the bigger picture/root cause. She is committed to increasing access to midwifery and holistic care for all people and building a stronger community around empowered and individualized birth and health care. In her free time, Bry is a watercolorist and writer, loves being in nature, teaches yoga, rides her motorcycle and gets her hands dirty in the garden. She speaks both English and Spanish.

Courtney Ebert Hein, CNM, MSN

Certified Nurse-Midwife

Courtney (she/her) has worked with families for 15 years, first as a L&D nurse and now as a Certified Nurse Midwife. In the hospital setting, Courtney advocated for evidence-based, person-centered care, resulting in policy changes and nurse trainings at two local hospitals to improve cesarean birth care. Courtney worked as a nurse at The Birth Center of Boulder while in midwifery school and is thrilled to return as a midwife as the center transitions to Boulder Birth & Holistic Health! Courtney’s journey as a mother started 17 years ago, and although she did not receive the care she needed, this experience shaped her passion for supporting women and families. She practices trauma-informed care and prioritizes mental health. Prior to joining BBHH, Courtney traveled regularly to provide critically needed midwifery care at Pine Ridge Reservation, Oglala Lakota Nation. Courtney lives in Longmont with her husband, two teenage sons, two dogs and a cat. She enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, hiking and paddle boarding.

Dori lives in Boulder with her husband and their sweet black lab, and has an adult daughter living in DC. When not at BBHH, she can be found on global health missions, advocating for reproductive rights and safe abortion care, or exploring the outdoors on hiking, backpacking, or trekking adventures.

Kathryn “Kat” Manchester, CNM

Certified Nurse-Midwife

Kat (she/her) began her journey into birth work as a nurse in the emergency department. She loved taking care of pregnant people- something not typical of ED nurses! Kat serendipitously caught a baby in the ER and then she was hooked. She transferred to L&D for several years and then became a midwife in 2018. Kat has enjoyed providing midwifery care for diverse populations: from rural and high risk clients to elite athletes to immigrants. Kat believes it is a true honor to welcome babes Earthside, but even more, it is creating long lasting and trusting relationships with families that is truly at the heart of Kat’s work. She is also passionate about providing whole-person gender affirming primary and gyn care. When not at work you will find Kat out at a park with her two little boys and husband, cycling, hiking and indulging in all-you-can-eat sushi.

Lauren Shuler, IBCLC

Lactation Consultant

Like so many before her, Lauren (she/her) first developed a passion for breast/chestfeeding after having her first child. This passion eventually pushed her to put a hold on her career as a professional engineer and pursue lactation after the birth of her second child. She is especially passionate about equity in the lactation and infant feeding space and is working to improve the quality of and access to care for everyone, especially those in historically marginalized communities. In an effort to provide the best care possible to all her clients, Lauren continually participates in trainings led by and focused on LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC cultural competency and care. Lauren is an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), professional engineer, board member on the Northern Colorado Breastfeeding Coalition, racial equity co-facilitator for local government, and a volunteer victim advocate. In her practice, she works to give parents support, education, and confidence in meeting their chest/breastfeeding goals, whatever those may be. Lauren lives with her partner, two kids, and two cats.

Carlie Schofield, IBCLC

Lactation Consultant

Carlie (she/her) is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) with a background in public health and a big passion for women’s health. Over the years, she's had the opportunity to work with women and families across diverse communities including Africa, Berlin, Salt Lake City, and Colorado, helping them navigate the ups and downs of parenthood. Carlie's journey into lactation started after facing her own feeding challenges with her 2nd baby who was born prematurely. That experience made it clear just how crucial the right support can be, and it inspired her to pursue a career where she can provide that support to others. Carlie is all about supporting families in reaching their personal feeding goals, whether that’s breastfeeding, bottle-feeding, or a mix of both. Her goal is to provide evidence-based, real-world advice that helps you make the best decisions for your family. Parenthood is hard enough, and Carlie is here to make the feeding part a little easier and a lot less stressful.
