Why Mental Wellness?

We consider wellness to include a person’s physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. While an amazing experience, becoming a new family also comes with unavoidable stressors and challenges. We encourage all clients to take advantage of a free perinatal wellness check prenatally or in the early weeks postpartum, and to continue with ongoing therapy support if desired.

These sessions can help parents to-be prepare for, understand, and navigate early family life by introducing skills and techniques to better manage the demands of this huge life transition.

What is Co-Located Care?

Through a close partnership known as “co-located care” with Parent & Family Wellness Center (PFWC), our clients are able to benefit from mental health support on-site at BBHH. This means BBHH has our own dedicated mental health specialist from PFWC who works with our clients from within our birth center space.

For those who desire ongoing therapy, billing is handled through PFWC, which accepts many of the same insurances as BBHH.

Who is Eligible?

Any client planning to birth at BBHH can benefit from a free mental wellness check either during pregnancy or in the early months postpartum.

Ongoing therapy via co-located care is for birth center clients or their partners, and can occur at any time — it does not have to be during the prenatal or postpartum periods.

Perinatal wellness checks and co-located therapy visits will take place at BBHH or virtually, per client preference. Co-located care visits will be billed and scheduled directly through PFWC.

How to Get Started & What to Expect

We are able to offer mental health services in partnership with the Parent and Family Wellness Center and a co-located care model.
To schedule a free perinatal wellness check, scan the QR code in each clinic room and at the reception desk at your next prenatal visit, or contact us to request a referral.
To schedule a psychotherapy visit with our co-located care provider, please contact our office to request a referral, or speak with your midwife about it at your next visit.
We are able to expedite the referral process and make sure you get seen quickly.
